Sign of the Times for Greendale

Poole based building firm Greendale Construction are helping signpost the way for visitors to a popular historic tourist attraction.

After being chosen to carry out major refurbishment work at Highcliffe Castle near Christchurch in Dorset, the firm has now sponsored 12 no large Heritage Boards which tell the history of the Castle. The boards are beautifully displayed in the newly refurbished Great Hall.

Work on the Grade 1 listed building was recently completed and the Mayor of Christchurch officially unveiled the latest £1.2 million phase 6 development on 17/04/08.

As a result of the restoration work this year an estimated 50,000 visitors will be able to access part of Highcliffe Castle that were previously off limits, including the state dining room, butler’s pantry and the East Tower, and many others can take advantage of the other changes which have taken place which include a new banqueting hall, kitchen, food preparation area, bar and much more.

The Heritage boards tell the story of Highcliffe Castle which was built between 1831 and 1836 and contain many interesting photos and pictures illustrating the castles amazing history.

Highcliffe Castle has been described as "the most important remaining example of the romantic and picturesque style of architecture." Greendale Construction, who have become a specialist in carrying out work on historic listed buildings have taken great care to ensure all the work is in sympathy with the original architecture.
