It’s a Sure Finish for Greendale January 2008 Poole based construction firm Greendale Construction, in partnership with the Borough of Poole, have just completed work on a valuable asset to the local community. The £400,000 government funded project to build the Rossmore Children's Centre started this summer and the project has now completed on time and to budget and was officially opened by the Mayor and Mayoress of Poole. This brand new Sure Start Children's Centre is based in the grounds of the Rossmore Community College in Alderney, Poole. The Centre will provide a great resource for young children and families and ensure that every child under 5 has the best start in life by bringing together a wide range of services and support to families in the local community. Greendale have constructed a child friendly, curved single storey brick structure, with reception area, staff rooms and kitchens. There are large multi purpose rooms for the children and the building has been designed to make the most of natural light with cool pastel colours and beech wood adding to the spacious, airy effect. There are fun touches throughout, like animal characters on the doors of the chidlren's toilets and port hole windows whilst the glass roof includes a rain controlled system to automatically open and close depending on the weather. Adjacent is a fenced in exterior garden that also has a pagoda offering shade from the sun during the summer months. Director of Greendale Construction Rob Hooker says: "This is a great facility for young families living in the Rossmore area - this is the second Sure Start project we have been involved in and we hope the building will be well used and adults and children alike will get the most out of the facilities on offer."
