Weymouth’s former main Post Office now boasts 2 new restaurants.

Weymouth’s economy will be given a boost with two new restaurants after Dorset Chartered Builders, Greendale Construction Limited, completed renovating the former main post office building in Thomas Street.

The iconic Grade II listed building in Edwardian Baroque style dates to 1907, and ceased to trade in January 2013 when smaller, more modern premises further along St Thomas Street opened as part of a post office modernisation programme.

The conversion into two restaurants has been carried out with the emphasis on preserving the special architectural and historic qualities of the listed building. The eight month project saw Greendale strip out, extend, and divide the space into two units, one of which has been opened as the Nautico Lounge; an informal café/bar, open all day, where families, friends, and local residents can enjoy coffee, a drink, or something to eat in a relaxed and comfortable environment.
