Robert studied at Hertfordshire College of Building and trained in London with Y.J. Lovell before moving to Bournemouth in 1981 where he joined Ernest Ireland Construction [Mowlem Group] as a Site Manager. In 1985 he became a member of the Chartered Institute of Building and subsequently worked as Contracts Manager for Horton Construction. In 1990 Rob and Chris Kane started Greendale, and in 2009, he became a board member for the CIOB Chartered Building Company Scheme. Rob also chairs the Employers Engagement Committee for the CIOB and reports to the COIB Business Development Board.
A student at Central London Polytechnic, Chris achieved a BSc (Honours) Degree in Building in 1987 and spent his formative years working for a Chelsea based property developer. Later, he moved to Bournemouth to work on the New Operations Centre for Chase Manhattan Bank N.A as part of the Project Management Team. In 1990 he co-founded Greendale with Rob Hooker and is now a member of the Institute of Directors. Chris is actively involved with Dorset Business representing Greendale as Platinum Partners of the DCCI and patrons/sponsors of the Bournemouth Property Association (BPA).
Andrew trained with DF Blanchard (Salisbury) Ltd, progressing from Joinery Manager to Contracts Management and Senior Surveyor. He achieved an HNC and became member of CIOB in 1999 and Fellowship Status in 2009. Andrew joined Greendale as Contract Manager / Surveyor in 2004 and was invited to join the board of Greendale Construction in 2011. Andrew is also the Director responsible for Health & Safety within the company and is also involved with Construction Excellence South West.
Maria gained extensive construction industry experience prior to joining Greendale in 1997. Responsible for Finance, HR & Training, in 2009 she became director of the Dorset Construction Training Group where she works closely with local Colleges promoting training and apprenticeships. Maria also works closely with the FMB and the CITB raising awareness of important issues across the construction industry. Maria advises the CITB on policy and apprenticeships and recently attended the Houses of Parliament to present a speech backing construction apprenticeships.
After completing his training at Sleeman Construction, Dave reached the position of Senior Surveyor in 1999. Dave has experience in all value ranges from small works to multi-million developments. Dave is a member of the CIOB and joined Greendale as Estimator/Surveyor in 1998.
Jeff joined us in August 2014 as Estimator. Jeff brought with him a wealth of experience having previously worked as an Estimator for Jordan and Faber and prior to that holding various estimating and design positions within a construction setting. Jeff has a BSc hons in Quantity Surveying and Commercial Management as well as a HND in Construction. In his role at Greendale Jeff works alongside our other Estimators and QS's producing estimates / tender submissions and surveying on projects.
Born in Bournemouth, John trained with Kenneth J Riley Practice. Achieving an HNC in Building Construction, he joined Sleeman Construction as Contracts Surveyor and 13 years later moved to Delta Design & Build as Building Manager. John joined Greendale in 2003.
Chris joined as a Management Trainee in August 2008 and has successfully worked his way up to Surveyor/Contracts Manager looking after some of our larger projects. Chris recently achieved a 2:1 degree in Construction Management from Southampton University in 2013 and become a member of CIOB in September 2014.
Nick joined Greendale in May 2015 as Quantity Surveyor/Contracts Manager. As well as being the link between our clients and the contracts team. Nick has over 20 years’ experience in the construction industry, most recently working for Stepnell Ltd and previously for Kier Southern Ltd and Vear Construction Ltd. Nick holds a HND in Building Studies gained at Southampton Solent University.
Christine has 25 years industry experience, joining Greendale in 2000. She has since achieved IOSH Managing Safely in Construction and now prepares the CDM information and Operations and Maintenance Manuals. Christine is also PA to the directors.
Originally from South Africa, Sue joined Greendale in July 2003 as Office Administrator, progressing to Accounts Administrator and assisting the Finance Manager in keeping the company accounts.
Charlotte joined Greendale Construction in August 2013. Working part-time as the HR and Training Administrator, she assists the HR & Finance Director with all aspects of HR within the company. After completing her degree at Oxford Brookes University in 2008, Charlotte gained experience working as an HR officer for a well-known theme park before returning to Dorset to further her HR career.
Anna joined Greendale Construction in June 2011 bringing with her a wealth of experience within the construction industry. She has worked within the industry for the past 18 years gaining experience in Health & Safety, Marketing and all aspects of construction administration. Anna achieved her NVQ Level 2 in Business Administration in 2010 and since joining the company has starting working towards her NVQ Level 3 in Business Administration. Anna also works as our receptionist and provides secretarial support to the Contract Managers and the Office Administration team.
Peter joined us in July 2015 as Estimator/Surveyor taking on the main estimating role within the Small Works Division for projects with values of 40k to 200k. Peter has worked within the construction industry for the past 15 years and in that time has achieved a BSc (hons) in Quantity Surveying from Portsmouth University.
Set on a cliff top at the Eastern Gateway to the Jurassic Coast the grade 2 listed building - originally built by George Burt 120 years ago - required urgent restoration work to save it. The Castle had fallen into disrepair and had dry and wet rot and serious structural problems.
