Poole Museum

Poole, Dorset

Greendale used a combination of modern and traditional building techniques during a substantial design and build project for this popular visitor attraction. All display floors of the Grade 2 listed warehouse were upgraded and a new feature area created to exhibit an Iron Age log boat.

After demolishing an unsightly structure dating from the 1970s, a new, contemporary steel and glass atrium entrance with observation deck was also created to welcome visitors to the museum.

Employer Borough of Poole

Architects Horden Cherry Lee

Surveyors Baqus Denley King

Value £950,000

Construction Notes

Careful consideration on Health & Safety matters were required on this project. In particular the demolition of the existing 1970’s structure in a busy restricted urban area. External hard landscaping incorporated locally quarried Purbeck Stone slabs.
